Preparing for Kindergarten- SPACE STILL AVAILABLE

Developed as a complement to the Natick Public Schools’  supportive kindergarten transition activities, this FREE parent workshop will provide:

  • Ideas for preparing your family for a smooth transition this fall
  • Strategies to ease pre-September anxieties in your child (and yourself!)
  • A bibliography of children’s literature to help your family establish positive expectations about the new school experience
  • Tips for establishing supportive morning and evening routines
  • Ideas for teaching your kindergartner the self-care skills he/she will need for navigating his/her new learning environment
  • Strategies for establishing a positive and collaborative relationship with your child’s teacher

Also, enjoy small group discussions with volunteer parents of this year’s kindergarteners! A least one veteran parent from each elementary school will be available to help answer your school-specific questions and provide a parent’s perspective of the transition.

Get Involved in Program Planning at NECN

Dear Natick Parents and Caregivers,

Programs at Natick Early Childhood Network are beginning to wind down as we head toward summer and, already, plans are being made for next fiscal year!       I am writing today to offer you an opportunity to become more involved in the decision making about what programs we offer here at NECN.  Our organization is here to provide support to Natick families like yours in the form of parent workshops, playgroups, family events, and access to high quality information and referrals.  Who better to help us provide programs that are relevant to Natick families than you?

I invite you to be a part of the NECN, Program Planning Committee (PPC)!  The PPC is open to any parent or caregiver interested in getting involved in planning programs like playgroups, parent workshop, and family events.  Participants will be trained in the Strengthening Families model which we use as the underlying framework for our programs here at NECN.  You can learn more about Strengthening Families by clicking HERE.  Parents and caregivers participating in the Program Planning Committee will also help gather useful, relevant information to families for our newsletter.  This is a great opportunity to exercise your skills and talents as well as picking up new ones along the way!

Before scheduling a first meeting, I would like to hear back from anyone who is interested in becoming a part of the Program Planning Committee so we can plan for a time that is conducive to as many people as possible. Click HERE to express interest in this group.  Please join me in an initiative to ensure programming at NECN reflects the needs of our Natick families!

Warmest Wishes,

Lindsey Tarrant
